Count Your Blessings
Being single over the holidays can stink! No need to sugar coat it, it does! However, in the spirit of Thanksgiving, it is important to be thankful when you’re single and count your blessings. Even if you’d rather be seated at the Thanksgiving table with a romantic partner, there are aspects of being single that you’ll miss once you’re all settled into a loving relationship.
Soundly sleeping
When you’re stuffed with delicious food and ready for a nap, you can sleep how you want! No contorting yourself to make room for your partner’s weird sleeping position. No listening to snoring, or playing tug-of-war with a blanket.
Embrace the goodness
Be bold, take that extra slice of pie! No need to ask if anyone else wants it. Go for it.
Flirt with whoever you want at the annual neighborhood holiday party. It’s another great reason to be thankful when you’re single!
Enjoy catching up with your high school friends without having to convince someone else that they are fun and cool and totally never used to pick on you.
For better or for worse, you can spend the holidays with your own crazy family! No pressure to impress a whole new cast of characters. You don’t have to deal with the stress of introducing someone else to your side. Rest easy knowing your loud uncle isn’t going to scare them away with his politics, or tell them about the time you peed your pants in fourth grade. Be yourself with your family without feeling like you need to walk on eggshells.
Indeed, being single is better than settling. In fact, it’s better than doing things with your partner that you don’t enjoy. Go out and embrace being our own person, not one half of a couple. You have your own schedule, you’re independent and self-reliant in ways you never imagined you could be! Go focus on your career or explore new hobbies, like Pickleball, without being anchored to the wrong person.
Stay optimistic, and start strategizing your game plan for next year.
